Description and
Objectives:
This annual symposium is
designed to assist physicians and other health care professionals in
improving longevity and quality of life for their male patients
throughout the life cycle. The MMS Committee
on Men’s Health identified key diagnostic and treatment issues
that continue to perplex physicians and other health professions in the
care of male patients. Prevention techniques
along with new disease management regimens have been identified and will
be explored through this CME program. As a
result of participating in this program, attendees will be able
to:
- Identify regional and national
resources for health professionals to assist men with prevention and
management techniques to combat illness
- Identify global and
environmental issues that impact the current status of men’s
health
- Apply new diagnosis and
management modalities for prostate cancer and other urological
disorders
- Examine evidence that promotes
aggressive management of cardiovascular risk factors to improve erectile
function
- Develop strategies for patient
care in the treatment and management of male sexual
dysfunction
- List three key biological
indicators that are prevalent in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in
men
- Address the key barriers (risk
factors) to improved male health and wellness
- Construct strategies to reduce
the existence of these barriers as boys mature to adulthood
- Describe the effect of the
components of vitamin D on the prevention of, and treatment for,
osteoporosis and other disorders in men
- Discuss limitations of
data/evidence in support of clinically derived notions as they apply to
men’s health
