Walk Away
By:  Angela Campbell, Memorial Middle School, Grade 8
Don’t pick it up
Don’t take a puff
If you’re going to stay
You’re going to pay
Just walk away
Don’t waste your life
Don’t listen to the people that you call friends
Don’t stay there.  What’s the message you’re going to send?
Right away, you’ll get hooked
Right away, your death’ll be booked
Just walk away
Don’t waste your life
If you really do it, what will your parents say?
If you really do it, you want to see that disappointed face?
Don’t be an egg, don’t crack
Don’t be mean to your body, it’ll get you back
Just walk away
Don’t waste your life.

 Please do not smoke
By:  Nicole Dreishpoon, Memorial Middle School, Grade: 6
I love my throat, my jaw, my tongue.
I love my gums, my teeth, and my lung.
I don’t want to be gray, unhealthy, or wrinkled.
I don’t want to smell bad feel weird, or be crinkled.
I want to be pretty, sweet and free.
I want to be handsome nice and me!
I don’t want to blow smoke; I don’t want to be sneezy.
I don’t want bad breath; I don’t want to be wheezy.
I don’t want to be tricked I don’t want to be a fool.
I would rather be healthy then to be called cool.
As a cigarette is smoked the tar inhaled increases.
Then it travels to your brain in small vapor pieces.
Although not as bad as heroin addiction
The pain nicotine causes is beyond fiction.

This poem is to remind all people that cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing compounds and 400 other toxins.  Nicotine is highly addictive, serious, and dangerous.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY TOBACCO!!!

 Think before you smoke
By: Taylor Ford, Memorial Middle School, Grade: 8
Think before you smoke
You can get diseases
Like lung cancer and heart diseases
Think about your health
Before you get addicted
And die young because you were stupid
Be a smoke free kid
It helps your health
And you won’t die young
Be a smoke free kid
Just one cigarette hurts you
Be smart with your choices.
BE A SMOKE FREE KID!

Smelling very gross
By:  Janice Farrell, Sterling, Grade:  6
Money lost
Over one million smokers
Kills you a little everyday
Inside cigarettes are many chemicals
Now do you really want to smoke?
Get cancer
T obacco grows naturally but should be illegal
O h my! So many people smoke
B ad habit
A ddiction
C ough and….
C hoke
O ver time you croak

When you smoke a cigarette
By:  Yorel Drane, Sterling Middle School, Grade:  6
When you smoke a cigarette,
You start to get high,
Your body is weak,
And you’re about to die.

The lungs are black,
Your brain is frantic,
You can’t do stuff,
Like activities and antics.

Smoking is bad,
For everyone,
Do not smoke,
Or your life will be done.

Smoking is not good for you
