Hampshire District Medical Society Medical Student Grants Program

The Hampshire District Medical Society, the local chapter of the Massachusetts Medical Society, is pleased to announce that grants of $2,000 each will be awarded to medical students annually. The following criteria must be met for an individual to be considered for the grant.

  • Must list or have lived in Western Massachusetts for at least five consecutive years.
  • A letter of matriculation must be submitted from the medical school the individual is attending.
  • Full-time student in the third or fourth year of medical school.
  • A copy of the letter of recommendation from the undergraduate school to the medical school must be submitted.

All candidates will have an equal opportunity to qualify for the grants.  Awardees will be selected by an Executive Committee by August.  Notification of the recipients will be made by end of September.

All applications must be submitted no later than April 30, each year.

Hampshire District News

Hampshire held its annual High School Doctor for a Day program on March 25, 2009. The High School Doctor for a Day Program is an educational opportunity designed to provide a mentoring experience for serious high school juniors or seniors. The program is designed to assist young people who have expressed an interest in the field of medicine to have hands-on experience in the complex health care environment. This is the eigth consecutive year for this program; it continues to be successful for all the students able to participate.
