Alcohol Awareness Writing Contest 2003 - for Massachusetts high school students

Massachusetts Medical Society and Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Alcohol Awareness Contest 2003

A recent Journal of the American Medical Association study reported that underage drinkers and adult excessive drinkers are responsible for over 50% of alcohol consumption and almost 49% of consumer expenditure.

To promote awareness among youth about this serious issue, the Massachusetts Medical Society Committee on Student Health and Sports Medicine and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association developed a contest for high school students in the Commonwealth. What’s Your Message Alcohol Awareness Contest encouraged Massachusetts high school students to share their messages about the negative consequences of alcohol. Over 500 students submitted entries, from which three winning entries and seven honorable mentions were chosen.

The Massachusetts Medical Society and Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association thank all the students and their sponsors who participated in the contest.
