Principles for Profiling Physician Performance

The Massachusetts Medical Society has published a set of principles to be used for the measurement of health quality in Massachusetts. These principles are intended to help health plans, integrated delivery systems, and accreditation agencies create standardized performance measures for clinical care.

This Health Report describes current efforts to measure physician performance and discusses the principles the Massachusetts Medical Society believes should guide future profiling activities.
