The Massachusetts Medical Society Alliance is a dynamic organization
of physicians’ spouses, physicians, medical students, partners,
and friends committed to advancing the health and well-being of the
family of medicine.
The Alliance, in conjunction with the Massachusetts Medical Society,
advocates and promotes good health among the citizens of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Program
Friday, May 14, 2010 -- The Massachusetts Medical Society Alliance
(MMSA) annual meeting will be followed by induction of the
2010–2011 officers and the MMSA educational program, which will
feature keynote speaker Shakti Sabharwal, MD. A member of the Red Sox
Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program will
also offer comments and answer questions.

When disaster strikes, each moment is critical. Preparedness is
the key to any successful response. Dr. Aghababian will share his
experience and the experience of others of preparation, and management
in the wake of several recent disasters. There will be time for
questions and answers.

- Health Matters TV Show
A recent episode of Health Matters focused on obesity. Dr. Bruce
Karlin served as host, and Drs. Manjul Shukla of the Fallon Clinic, and
Leonard Morse, Worcester Commissioner of Public Health, and Mrs. Laura
Newstein, co-founder of the Worcester District Alliance Pedometer
Research Project, were the discussants.
- Worcester Festival of Trees
The Worcester Central District Medical Society Alliance participated in
the Junior League of Worcester Festival of Trees, held at the Ecotarium
in that city

Areas of Focus
The Alliance has three areas of focus: health promotion, legislative
awareness of health care issues, and supporting the family of medicine,
from training years to retirement.
Health Promotion
Our members participate in activities that meet community interests
and needs. Alliance initiatives address a variety of health and
safety-related issues, including:
Legislation
Our members develop awareness of legislative issues affecting health
care through frequent updates, programs, and educational workshops.
Supporting the Family of Medicine
The MMS Alliance is a member of the American Medical
Association Alliance (AMAA), a nationwide volunteer organization of
physicians’ spouses dedicated to promoting the goals of the
medical profession; meeting community health needs; and providing
support for the medical family.
