Eating Disorders of Adolescents: Too Little . . . Too
Much
November 30, 2004
2004 MMS Oration
The MMS Annual Oration dates from 1804 when Dr. Isaac Rand, then
president of the Massachusetts Medical Society, gave the “annual
discourse.” This event was originally designed for the MMS’s
newly elected councilors to help them keep abreast of “some
medical subject ... or medical science in the state.”
This year’s oration, held on October 8, 2004, was presented by
Marianne E. Felice, MD, professor and chair of the Department of
Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and
pediatrician-in-chief of
the University of Massachusetts Memorial
Children’s Medical Center.
Dr. Felice’s presentation, “Eating Disorders of
Adolescents: Too Little…Too Much," focused on the societal
challenges and resulting medical consequences facing
teenagers.
