The MMS recognizes the close interrelationship between
medicine, public health and individual health. The MMS works to
preserve Massachusetts’ position as a leader in public health
through education of physicians and the public, policy development and
advocacy.
Strategic Priorities
The MMS’s Committee on Public Health has
established four areas of strategic priority:
Obesity
Resources for physicians and patients about the recognition and
treatment of overweight, obesity and eating disorders
Violence Prevention
Screening, intervention and prevention resources for physicians and
patients about partner and family violence, sexual assault, violence
among youth.
Emergency Preparedness
MMS works to ensure physicians are prepared for natural disasters,
pandemics and terror threats.
Environmental Health
Information about environmental changes and pollution and their impact
on human health.
