MMS 2011 Physician Workforce Study

The Massachusetts Medical Society tenth annual Physician Workforce Study found that physicians in eight specialties are operating under critical or severe labor market conditions:

Critical shortages:

  • Internal medicine
  • Urology
  • Psychiatry

Severe Shortages:

  • Family medicine
  • General surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Dermatology
  • Orthopedics
