Description:
This program will take a detailed look at the current state of
health insurance coverage in Massachusetts and the demographics of those
enrolled. Special attention will be given to the care of racial
and minority populations since the implementation of health care reform
in Massachusetts, with a particular focus on workforce diversity and
access to primary care and other services. The legislative and
financial challenges of health care reform in the state will also be
highlighted.
Objectives:
After participating in this activity, attendees will be able
to:
- Explain the impact that health care reform in
Massachusetts has had on racial and ethnic health care
disparities.
- Recognize the legislative challenges of health
care reform in Massachusetts.
- Evaluate the working environment for primary
caregivers and other specialists since health care reform.
- Address how well health care reform in
Massachusetts is working, and describe the demographics of those
enrolled.
- Analyze workforce diversity in the health care
field and offer proactive solutions for more diversity.
Accreditation:
The Massachusetts Medical Society designates this educational
activity for a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1
CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit
commensurate with the extent of their participation in the
activity.
This activity meets the Massachusetts
Board of Registration in Medicine's criteria for risk management
study.
The Massachusetts Medical Society is
accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education
to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
