Course Overview
In 2003, the U.S. Congress, under
Section 306 of the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and
Modernization Act, in one of its attempts to detect and correct
administrative and resource waste in the Medicare program created a new
program called RACs. The program began in 2005 in NY, FL and CA, and
expanded in 2007 to SC, AZ and MA. By 2009, it encompassed 44 states and
the District of Columbia with the remainder of the country on board in
2010. This CME activity, "Health Care Providers Brace for Medicare
Audits" provides an overview of the program, high risk areas and
actionable steps a provider can implement to improve their practice and
prepare for a potential audit.
