In comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the MMS criticizes the federal government's proposed implementation of the Value Based Payment Modifier for Medicare.
"The methodology does not exist to implement the Value Based Payment Modifier as defined in this section, nor does the agency have the capacity to apply to VBM to every physician, in every practice, in every specialty in this country," said Richard V. Aghababian, MD, president of the MMS.
MMS also called for modifications to the CMS' electronic prescribing program, noting that some physicians who have successfully implemented electronic prescribing have still been assessed the program 1 percent penalty for non-compliance.
