An Act Relative To Bicycle Safety

Text of legislation filed by MMS for the 2015-16 session of the Massachusetts Legislature:


Section 11B of Chapter 85 of Massachusetts General Laws is hereby amended by the deletion of “16 years of age or younger” from line 36 of paragraph (2)(iii); and,

Section 11B of Chapter 85 of Massachusetts General Laws is hereby amended by adding a new paragraph after line 110 which reads:

“The Department of Public Health, or other appropriate state agency, shall pursue means by which to encourage bicycle operators to wear highly-visible waist-up clothing while bicycling. Such clothing should be fluorescent with reflective areas for visibility both during daylight and darkness, as consistent with the conspicuity standards of the American National Standards Institute.”
