MMS Steps in to Assist
Deaconess-Waltham Hospital Physicians
The Massachusetts Medical Society stepped
in to assist the physicians at Deaconess-Waltham Hospital in facilitating
a resolution of their concerns with Tufts Health Plans.
Physicians had received a letter from Tufts
asking for written confirmation from each physician of his or her
network/IPA affiliation no later than March 15. Tufts indicated
that pursuant to state law and accreditation requirements,
it was obligated to inform its members of changes in
its network physicians. The letter also indicated that the physicians
failure to comply with this deadline might have resulted in Tufts
members being notified of the physicians termination as a
participating provider in the Tufts network. more
