Resolve to Get Involved
2004 Interim HOD Meeting, Nov. 5-6
MMS House of Delegates (HOD) meetings and Reference
Committee hearings provide the forum for delegates and members to
address today's health care issues and Society matters. The next
meeting of the House of Delegates will be held on Friday, November
5 and Saturday, November 6, 2004 at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel.
Any MMS member can submit a resolution to the
HOD. Before drafting a resolution, however, members are encouraged
to present their ideas to an MMS committee or to their district
medical society. Committees sometimes suggest more effective ways
to address specific ideas or requests, while district medical societies
may agree to co-sponsor a resolution, giving it added "weight"
in the HOD.
The deadline for resolutions for the Interim
Meeting is September 21. Members can access resolution-writing guidance
and submit resolutions online at
www.massmed.org/pages/resolution_submittal.asp or e-mail them
to resolutions@mms.org.
MMS members (and interested non-members) can
provide testimony on resolutions during Reference Committee hearings
at the Framingham Sheraton on Friday, November 5, beginning at 10:30
a.m. MMS members are welcome to observe the two sessions of the
House (Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6), but only delegates
may participate in debate on the House floor.
