Case Study
A hearing mother-to-be and a deaf
father-to-be are expecting their first child. Approximately seven months
into the pregnancy, tests on their unborn child reveal a congenital
heart condition. The couple’s obstetrician refers them to a
physician who specializes in high-risk pregnancies. When the couple
contacts this physician, they request that an interpreter be provided so
that the father-to-be could communicate with the physician.
