The Caring for the Caregivers IV anniversary
dinner, sponsored by Physician Health Services, will feature a presentation
by Auguste H. Fortin, VI, M.D., MPH, on "Enjoying Our Life
in Medicine: Satisfying Our Patients and Caring for Ourselves."
This special fundraising event will also feature a silent auction.
Physicians and others who wish to support PHS are invited to donate
works of art and other items for auction.
The educational event, cosponsored by the MMS
and PHS, includes 11 hours of continuing medical education credit
and will provide an opportunity for physicians to focus on their
well-being and learn methods to prevent health problems in the increasingly
demanding practice environment. The Massachusetts Medical Society
recently released its Physician Practice Environment Index for 2002,
and the results indicate a continued worsening of the practice environment
for physicians throughout the state. A declining physician work
environment impacts the entire health care system and ultimately
patient care. To further extend the level of care to physicians,
educational session speakers will provide important life strategies
to achieve added value in medicine and fulfillment in life beyond
the workplace walls.
