Zeev Neuwirth, MD
A board-certified internist, Dr. Neuwirth is chief of clinical
effectiveness and innovation at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. He
leads the organization in health care delivery innovations such as
shared medical appointments. He also assists Harvard Vanguard with
leadership development, strategic planning, and its patient-centered
medical home project. Dr. Neuwirth’s academic work focused on
patient-clinician communication, the patient care experience, and health
care team building. He is published in medical journals as well as the
popular press, and has won several teaching awards. Dr. Neuwirth
received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and he
holds a masters degree in Health Care Management from the Harvard School
of Public Health.
Ellen M. Zane, MA
Ms. Zane is president and CEO of Tufts Medical Center and the Floating
Hospital for Children in Boston. She is also an assistant professor in
the Division of Clinical Care Research at Tufts University School of
Medicine and currently serves as board chair of the Massachusetts
Hospital Association. From 1994 to 2004, Ms. Zane was network
president for Partners HealthCare, where she developed a provider
network of 5,600 physicians. Throughout her career, she has
received numerous awards and honors including the Arthritis
Foundation’s lifetime achievement award in 2007, recognition in
2005 by the Brandeis University National Women’s Committee for
promoting excellence in health care, and being named as one of
Boston’s Most Powerful Women by Boston Magazine in
2003.
Michael Chernew, PhD
A professor of health care policy at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Chernew
earned his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford where his research
concentrated on the growth in health care expenditures – a
critical topic that comes up in almost every discussion of health care
nowadays. Dr. Chernew is co-editor of the American Journal of
Managed Care, a member of the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission
(MedPAC), and a member of the Congressional Budget Office’s Panel
of Health Advisors. He also served on two advisory panels that assessed
the financial status of Medicare trust funds. Among his many
awards, Dr. Chernew was recognized by the National Institute for Health
Care Management for his 2008 Health Affairs article
investigating the impact of decreasing copays on medication
adherence.
Jon Chilingerian, PhD
Dr. Chilingerian is the director of executive education at Brandeis
University’s Heller School for Social Policy and Management. He
also co-directs the Brandeis doctoral training program in health
services. He holds a Ph.D. in management from MIT’s Sloan
School and his areas of expertise include organizational theory and
management of health care organizations. In 1995, Dr. Chilingerian
launched the four-year MD/MBA program in health management with Tufts
Medical School and Northeastern University. His papers and review essays
have been published in journals such as Medical Care, Health
Services Research, and Health Care Management Review.
John C. Bartley, Esq.
John Bartley is an attorney with over 30 years of legislative
experience. He has served as a member of the House of
Representative from Watertown n for four years. In addition,
he served as a legislative staff director and policy advisor to the
Speaker of the House George Keverian. He holds both undergraduate
and law degrees from Suffolk University and he represents a diverse
client portfolio before the legislature and the executive
branch.
