Module 1: How Do We Get There From Here?

This CME module was developed from a live program, "A Path to Accountable Care Organizations: How Do We Get There From Here", held on September 13, 2011 at MMS headquarters in Waltham, MA and is one of two activities in this series.

Module 1 will help physicians recognize the importance of accountable care delivery models and assist them in evaluating whether or not engaging in an Accountable Care Organization is appropriate for their practice.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define and describe the key components of an accountable care delivery model.
  • Explain value based payment methodology.
  • Assess the effectiveness of accountable care delivery as a model for cost savings
  • Describe what the implications for the future are at the commercial level and in the public sector.
  • Illustrate potential challenges and opportunities for physicians in the state of MA.

Module 2: IT Infrastructure

This CME module was developed from a live program, "A Path to Accountable Care Organizations: How Do We Get There From Here", held on September 13, 2011 at MMS headquarters in Waltham, MA and is one of two activities in this series.

ACOs require sophisticated HIT for core functionality and to adapt to new requirements. Providers need information and the key "how to" steps essential to formulate a plan for laying the necessary ground work and infrastructure in order to engage in an accountable care organization.

Learning Objectives

  • Evaluate the steps their practice can take today to prepare and formulate a plan for future steps necessary for their practice to engage in accountable care organizations
  • Reflect on whether or not engaging in an accountable care entity makes sense for their practice at this point in time.
