Protecting Your Patients' Data

Protecting Your Patients' Data

The federal program under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 set the stage for significant incentives for the implementation of electronic medical records by 2015.  Many concerns over privacy and security have been raised as patient records move from paper to digital systems.  As health exchanges become more prevalent, it's important to understand potential risks that may emerge as patient data is transmitted and stored across multiple electronic systems and networks.  This CME activity explores potential risks and identifies strategies that may be taken to reduce the risk of litigation and protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
