End-of-Life Care Series (3 Modules)

EOL_CareEnd-of-life care is fraught with ethical challenges for patients, families, and physicians.  Physicians have an obligation to help patients consider their wishes about care at the end of life, including which life-sustaining treatments they are likely to want if they become severely ill and unable to speak for themselves. Unfortunately, poor communication among physicians, patients, and families is common and can lead to discord and dissatisfaction with care at the end-of-life.  Improvement of one’s skill in facilitating difficult conversations can help everyone involved in the patient's care reach consensus.

This 3-part online CME series includes modules on Ethics and End-of-life Care, Communication and Conflict Resolution and Advance Care Planning.

This activity meets the criteria of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine for risk management credit, including 3 credits in end-of-life care.
