Committee Election Information for Committee Chairs

Election of Special Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs

  1. Staff liaison will conduct the election.
  2. Candidates must have served on the committee for at least one year, though not necessarily the preceding year.
  3. Candidates need not be present for the election.
  4. Individuals can nominate themselves. No second is necessary.
  5. Candidates need not give nomination speeches.
  6. No quorum of a committee is required to conduct elections.
  7. No proxy votes or absentee ballots can be accepted.
  8. Election should be by written ballot.
  9. The winner is that individual who receives the majority vote. If there are more than two candidates and no one receives a majority of the votes cast, the two candidates with the most votes are to participate in a run-off election. The candidate receiving the majority of votes cast is the winner.
  10. Please provide the name of the committee chair to the executive vice president.
