Welcome from Your Speakers

Your Speakers invite you to participate in the 2017 MMS Interim Meeting of the House of Delegates (HOD), December 1-2, 2017, at the MMS Headquarters and the Westin Hotel, Waltham.  Delegates must register for all Interim Meeting business meetings, educational programs, and luncheons. 

Please note these important dates and deadlines relevant to this meeting:

October 17, 2017: Resolution/Report Deadline

November 7, 2017: Hotel Deadline at the Westin Hotel, Waltham

November 7, 2017: Opt In Deadline for a paper Delegates’ Handbook

November 7, 2017: Delegates’ Handbook to post online

November 10, 2017: Delegates’ Handbook to mail (to those delegates who opted in)

November 15, 2017, 5:00 pm: Late-File Resolution and Report Deadline

November 28, 2017, 12:00 pm: Pre-Registration Deadline

December 1, 2017, 8:30 am: House of Delegates First Session

December 1, 2017, 10:00 am: Reference Committee Hearings

Submitting a Resolution to the HOD

The on-time deadline for resolutions is October 17, 2017.

The late-file deadline for resolutions is November 15, 2017 at 5:00 pm. Late resolutions are subject to review by the Committee on Late and Deferred Resolutions/Reports and for certain criteria per the Procedures of the HOD.

House of Delegates Remote Observation

Delegates and MMS members can remotely observe the HOD first and second session via the internet. Remove observation allows delegates who are unable to attend the meeting to follow the proceedings, but does not count as attending and does not allow for participation (testifying, voting) during the sessions. Family-Friendly Space

The MMS Board of Trustees recently voted to provide dedicated “family-friendly” space at the House of Delegates meetings to allow MMS members the option to remotely view the proceedings of the House of Delegates meetings.  The meeting space will be available during the HOD Second Session, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM. QR Code Attendance Tracking

Each attendee’s badge will have a quick response, or QR. code on the reverse side. A QR code is a type of matrix barcode used on gate passes, nutrition labels, and for marketing purposes. The QR code appearing on your badge will be programmed with your name and your MMS Member ID number. Attendees will “scan-in” to record their attendance at all HOD sessions and CME events (no scanning is required at lunches or other events).   Please see this informational flyer for more details.

New Delegate Orientation Luncheon

December 2, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

All interested delegates are invited to attend the New Delegate Orientation Luncheon on Friday, December 1. This orientation will explain roles and responsibilities and also basic information on parliamentary motions and how to testify at the HOD. This luncheon is perfect for newly elected delegates and also those who are wishing to brush up on their parliamentary knowledge… and also get some practice!  All are welcome.

Late File Resolutions and Reports

If you missed the resolution deadline but need to submit an urgent resolution for the 2017 Interim Meeting, the deadline is November 15, at 5:00 p.m.  Late-file resolutions must be submitted online at www.massmed.org/resolutions. Late file resolutions and reports are reviewed by the Committee on Late and Deferred Resolutions and must meet specific criteria.  (Please see MMS Procedures of the House of Delegates , Procedure 4

Late files will be available electronically on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.

A Town Hall Forum with the MMS Presidential Officers

The MMS Presidential Officers are pleased to invite delegates to attend this event on Friday, December 1, from 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. This open town hall forum will allow delegates to provide input on MMS physician wellness activities and hear an update on the MassHealth Transformation processes.
