Denise Mills, M.D. accepts her Community Clinician of the Year Award from Middlesex North District President Eric Meikle, M.D.

Waltham – May 6 -- Dracut resident and physician M. Denise Mills, M.D. has been honored by her physician peers of the Middlesex North District Medical Society as the district’s 2013 Community Clinician of the Year. The award will be presented at the district’s annual meeting April 24 at Salvatore’s Function Facility in Lawrence.   

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Mills is a solo practitioner at Dracut Family Healthcare, a medical practice she has owned since 2003. She serves as the school physician for the Dracut Public School System, a position she has held since 2000, and is a member-at-large of the Lowell General Hospital Medical Executive Committee.

An active member of the Massachusetts Medical Society, she serves on its Board of Trustees and its House of Delegates, and is a member of the Organized Medical Staff Section and the Committees on Legislation and Strategic Planning. From 2009-2011, she was president of the Middlesex North District Medical Society. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Mills earned her undergraduate degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester and her medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, New York.  

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community and who stands out as a leading caregiver. The Middlesex North District is comprised of more than 200 physicians who live and work in 11 communities in the Lowell area.    

The Massachusetts Medical Society, with nearly 24,000 physicians and student members, is dedicated to educating and advocating for the patients and physicians of Massachusetts.
