Fitchburg Physician is Honored by Worcester North District Medical Society as 2015 Community Clinician of the Year

Peter C. McConartyWaltham – March 25 – Fitchburg physician Peter C. McConarty, M.D. has been honored by his physician peers of the Worcester North District Medical Society as the district’s 2015 Community Clinician of the Year. The award will be presented at the district society’s annual meeting on April 2 at the Fay Club in Fitchburg. 

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community.

In nominating him for the award, the district noted that “Dr. McConarty has passionately served the most complex and most vulnerable members of the Fitchburg-Leominster community for over 27 years, delivering excellent services and promoting coordination of services among our health care institutions and community service agencies. He has contributed to shaping the careers of countless medical student and over one hundred family medicine residents, many of whom practice in and around our community.” 

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. McConarty is an attending physician at the HealthAlliance Fitchburg Family Medicine. Since 2005, he has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. 

A graduate of Harvard College with a B.A. in biology, Dr. McConarty received his M.D. from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1973.
