Fernando Catalina, M.D., Ph.D.
Waltham – April 30 – Fernando Catalina, M.D., Ph.D., a physician at Medical Associates Pediatrics in Leominster, has been honored as the 2013 Community Clinician of the Year by his physician peers of the Worcester North District Medical Society. The award was presented at the district society’s annual meeting on March 6 at the Fay Club in Fitchburg.
The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community and who stands out as a leading advocate and caregiver.
Dr. Catalina received his bachelor’s degree from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire and his medical degree and a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
A member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 1997, Dr. Catalina is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the North Central Massachusetts Boys and Girls Club and the Board of Trustees of Central New England Health Alliance. In 2002, he was honored with the Hispanic Heritage Award for Outstanding Community Service from the Spanish American Center of the Twin Cities Leominster and Fitchburg. He resides in Harvard.
