Waltham – April 30 -- In a rare occurrence for the Massachusetts Medical Society, the 2013 Community Clinician of the Year honor for the Bristol South District Medical Society has been awarded to two physicians - Wendy Stern, M.D. and Jeremy Stern, M.D., husband and wife from Marion.

The award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies and recognizes member physicians for their significant contributions to their patients and the community. The doctors received their award at the district society’s annual meeting on April 3 at the Venus de Milo in Swansea.

Dr. Wendy Stern is a board-certified otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon in group private practice with Northeast Ear Nose and Throat in North Dartmouth. Active in organized medicine, she serves as the Secretary of the Board of Governors and the Chair of the Media and Public Relations Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the national specialty association. She has also served as president of the Massachusetts Society of Otolaryngology. Dr. Stern graduated with distinction from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.  

Dr. Jeremy Stern is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in private practice in North Dartmouth specializing in sports medicine and serves as the team physician for the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth as well as several area high schools. Also a graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with special distinction for research, he is one of the founding principals of the International Center for Latin American Concern Orthopedic Mission, an annual program conducted since 2005 that trains medical personnel and serves the residents in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
