Weston Physician is Honored by Charles River District Medical Society as 2013 Community Clinician of the Year

Waltham – April 30 – Weston resident Mohammad G. Reda, M.D. has been honored by his peers of the Charles River District Medical Society as the district’s 2013 Community Clinician of the Year.

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community and who stands out as a leading caregiver. The award will be presented April 11 at the district society’s annual meeting.

In nominating him for the honor, his colleagues said “Dr. Reda has a long and established record of clinical excellence and outstanding patient care. He is a beloved community leader who exemplifies the heart of the Massachusetts Medical Society values.”

A physician with Waltham Medical Group in Waltham, Dr. Reda is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonology. He is on the active staff of Newton-Wellesley Hospital and the courtesy staff of Mount Auburn Hospital. He received his M.D. from the College of Medicine at Damascus University in Syria and completed his internship in internal medicine at hospitals in New York, Baltimore, and Boston. He completed his residency in pulmonary medicine at Carney Hospital in Boston.  

Dr. Reda has been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 1976 and has served the organization in a number of capacities. He has been a member of its House of Delegates since 2003 and was a member and vice chair of the Committee on Accreditation Review. He has also served as secretary, vice president, and president of the Charles River District Medical Society. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Surgeons and since 1997, has been an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts Medical School.

His previous honors include the Allen W. Locke, M.D. Award for Effective Teaching of Primary Care from Newton-Wellesley Hospital and the Outstanding Teacher’s Award from Waltham Hospital.  

The Charles River District Medical Society includes the communities of Newton, Waltham, Needham, Wellesley, and Weston and has nearly 950 physicians as members who work and live in those communities.
