Funding levels for anti-tobacco efforts continue to decline despite
the 1998 landmark settlement of $246 billion with tobacco companies. The
MMS and its Committee on Student Health and Sports
Medicine are committed to combating tobacco use.

MMS sponsors an annual contest for children in grades 1 through 6, to promote awareness of the dangers of tobacco. - Tobacco Free Mass
MMS is a founding member of this coalition which advocates for policy that advances tobacco prevention and cessation to reduce tobacco use, and decrease the public's exposure to secondhand smoke. - Massachusetts Healthy Air Coalition
This coalition of health related organizations advocate for regulations and legislation to protect the air we breathe from tobacco smoke and other pollution.
