Massachusetts Medical Society: Timetable and Incentives

Timetable and Incentives

EHRThe American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) outlined a schedule of incentive payments based on the year an eligible provider first demonstrates the meaningful use of an electronic health record, and whether the provider has achieved the desired objective level.

Providers may qualify for either the Medicareor the Medicaid incentive program -NOT both.

Note: CMS announced on Dec. 6, 2013, that practices which attested to Meaningful Use Stage 1 in 2011 or 2012 will have an additional year (or through 2016) to attest to their Stage 2 status. Attestations for Stage 3 Meaningful Use will not begin until 2017 at the earliest.
