“The Story of the AHCA… Lessons Learned, Where We Go From Here”

The dust has barely settled from the rise and fall of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), but that doesn’t mean that valuable lessons have not been learned in the process.  Alex. Calcagno, MMS Director of Advocacy, Government and Community Relations, will discuss the important takeaways that have been gleaned from the failure to launch the AHCA and how they can be applied to help improve our nation’s health care system.

Speaker Biography:

Alex. Calcagno is responsible for advocating the Massachusetts Medical Society's position before the United States Congress, White House and Executive Agencies.

Prior to coming to the MMS, Alex. was Assistant Director of the American Academy of Pediatrics Office of Government Liaison in Washington, D.C. where she lobbied for children’s health care for 10 years at the national level.  Her first entry into the political arena was as Assistant Press Secretary for United States Representative M. Caldwell Butler.
