Future of Care: A Call to Collaboration – the 2019 Shattuck Lecture
Course Description
Amid high anxiety about health care costs, a shifting health care landscape, and an epidemic of professional burnout, the future of care must focus on the patient. Clinicians and health care organizations must embrace patient-centered guiding principles including cross-sector teamwork to address an array of 21st century
challenges. A look into the profession’s history points to a contemporary path where providers develop rewarding careers while fulfilling a vocation of service that advances care for patients. The 2019 Shattuck Lecture focuses on the future of care delivered by John H. Noseworthy, MD, president and CEO emeritus
of Mayo Clinic, followed by a conversation with Jeffrey M. Drazen, MD, editor-in-chief, New England Journal of Medicine.
