Sophia X. Bogdasarian has been elected president
of the Massachusetts Medical Society Alliance, an organization that supports and promotes health care and medical education among the citizens of the Commonwealth in conjunction with the Massachusetts Medical Society, the statewide professional association
of physicians. An active member of the Alliance for the last 8 years, Mrs. Bogdasarian was elected at the Annual Meeting of the Alliance on May 20th, held virtually. She most recently served as president of the Alliance from 2017-2019 and was re-elected for 2020-2021.
Sophia graduated from Fitchburg State University with a bachelor degree in nursing. Her first job was on a head and neck cancer ward at the VA Hospital in Jamaica Plain, where she met her otolaryngologist husband of the last 40 years. Sophia practiced
oncology nursing for many years, ending her career as the nurse manager of the Simonds-Sinon Regional Cancer
Center. She has been active in multiple local organizations, many times in roles of leadership. Presently, she is a member of the Health Alliance Guild, a member of The Fay Club, serving on their board and also their social committee, she is President
of the 658 Main Street Foundation, a member of the Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds for the city of Fitchburg, and a trustee of Applewild School. She enjoys having a seat on MA Medical Society Committees on Public Health and Senior Physician,
and is very much looking forward to serving as the alliance president.
Sophia is the mother of four sons, and is awaiting the birth of her first grandchild, who happens to be a boy. She is training a standard poodle to one day be a therapy dog, enjoys gourmet dining and world travel with her husband.
