Gail Gordon Sanchez has been elected president of the Massachusetts Medical Society Alliance, an organization that supports and promotes health care and medical education among the citizens of the Commonwealth in conjunction with the Massachusetts Medical Society, the statewide professional association of physicians. Gail was elected at the Annual Meeting of the Alliance held on May 13, 2023. She had served as president-elect from 2020-2022.
As President of the MMS Alliance, Gail will continue her interest in mental health and women’s issues. She is currently an alliance liaison on the MMS Committee’s Mental Health and Substance Use and the Senior Physicians.
Gail earned her degree in Social Work (MSW) from Simmons College, (now
Simmons University) and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
(LICSW) currently practicing psychotherapy with couples and individuals in her
private practice. Gail has had a long career at Riverside Community Care working
with chronically mentally ill clients. Over the years she has facilitated many
support groups for women going through divorce by cofounding The Women’s
Divorce Forum as well as groups for parents who have children with special needs.
Gail’s interest in women’s mental health, domestic violence, and balancing family
obligations have been ongoing.
Gail enjoys traveling with her husband, snowshoeing, kayaking, biking, hiking, and being with their grandchildren. She is an avid puzzle doer of at least 1000 pieces, reading, writing and creating poetry for special occasions, fixing things around the house, sewing and designing needlepoint.
Gail and her husband Dr. Luis Sanchez currently live in Newton.
