Course Overview
This CME activity was developed
from the archives of the presentations recorded at the CMS National
E-Prescribing Conference held on October 7, 2008 in Boston, MA. For a

This session consists of four
presentations which examine the components of privacy, security and
systems management as it relates to the e-prescribing program. Each
presentation seeks to educate providers and pharmacists on consumer
security and privacy, and delves into relevant topics that are integral
to adequate e-prescribing preparation, such as litigation and risk
management.

Intended Audience
This program is intended for
physicians and allied health professionals.
Course Objectives

Examine the basics of privacy,
security and systems management as related to audits, litigation and
other practical issues.

Identify steps to ensure privacy
and security around e-prescribing.

Recognize and mitigate the risks
in e-prescribing.

Deadline for completing the course
is May 31, 2010.
The Massachusetts Medical Society
designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA
PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim
credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the
activity.
This program meets the criteria of
the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine for risk management
study.
Participants will receive a
confidential report of their examination score. You must receive a score
of 70% or better to receive AMA PRA Category 1
Credit™. A confirmation of credit will be issued at the
end of the course to those who successfully complete the
examination.
This activity has been planned and
implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the Joint
Sponsorship of the Massachusetts Medical Society and the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services.
