Julia Edelman, M.D. is honored by Bristol North District Medical Society as 2017 Community Clinician of the Year

Dr Julia EdelmanWaltham – March 24th – Middleboro physician Julia F. Edelman, M.D. has been honored by her physician peers of the Bristol North District Medical Society as the district’s 2017 Community Clinician of the Year, in recognition of her professionalism and contributions to the community.  She will receive the award at the district’s annual meeting March 28 at the Venus de Milo in Swansea. 

The Massachusetts Medical Society established this award in 1998 to recognize one physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community.

A board-certified gynecologist, certified menopause practitioner, author, and educator, Dr. Edelman has served patients in Southeastern Massachusetts for more than 25 years. 

She has been an active member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since she was a resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  She currently serves on the Board of Trustees, the House of Delegates, and the Committees on Recognition Awards, and recently completed a term as president of the Bristol North District.  She has also served in a variety of roles for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the North American Menopause Society, and was a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School for more than a decade.  

Dr. Edelman earned her bachelor’s degree from Yale University and her medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.  

Dr. Edelman has written two books for women and their physicians: Menopause Matters: Your Guide to a Long and Healthy Life and Successful Sleep Strategies for Women.  In recognition of her contributions to the field of women’s health, the North American Menopause Society honored Dr. Edelman as their 2010 Menopause Practitioner of the Year.
