The Massachusetts Medical Society stands with all who are mourning and those who daily experience racism, including our physicians and patients of color. Racism permeates all sectors of society. Health care is no exception. Systemic racism, in and of itself, causes illness and premature death for people of color. That is wholly unacceptable. Hashtags and words are well-intentioned gestures, but we must hear, and we must act. The Massachusetts Medical Society will ensure that our commitment to working for the best possible health care for all patients is focused by the lens of equity and racial justice.
