Boston, Mass. – March 29th – The Massachusetts Medical Society has selected 16 fourth-year medical school students as Massachusetts Medical Society Scholars for 2017. Each will receive $10,000.
Applicants were selected by their
respective Massachusetts medical schools as meeting MMS award criteria that
includes academic achievement, community service, and financial need. Four MMS
Selection Committees — comprised of MMS officers, members of MMS education
committees, representatives of the MMS student section, and Continuing
Education & Certification staff — took into consideration each student’s
Statement of Purpose, references, and interview.
Since the inception of the MMS Scholars
Program in 1993, nearly $2 million have been granted to more than 200 students
from Massachusetts medical schools.
