An Update from Your President on the Virtual Annual Meeting

The Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak since it was first reported, and we are aware that hospitals and other institutions have prohibited their employees, including physicians, from attending external meetings and events.

The officers of the Society voted that all member meetings (Board of Trustees, committees, districts, etc.) for the near future should be postponed, canceled, or held remotely/virtually.

This applies to all the activities of the 2020 Annual Meeting, which will be held virtually.

We are working to arrange the new virtual logistics and updating information with FAQs that will be posted on the website. We recommend that you check back to this webpage frequently as updates evolve. What we currently know is that all dinners, lunches, receptions, and the après party are canceled.

This decision to conduct a virtual Annual Meeting is unprecedented, but necessary to protect the health of patients, members, guests, and staff. We appreciate your flexibility, understanding, and support.

Thank you for your cooperation, and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

All my best,

Maryanne C. Bombaugh, MD, MSc, MBA, FACOG,
President, Massachusetts Medical Society
