For the Public or Media: Find a Speaker

The Massachusetts Medical Society Speakers Bureau offers local groups the opportunity to request a physician to speak on current health and medical topics. The MMS Speakers Bureau is a public service of the organization, and speakers are scheduled at no charge to qualifying groups.

Some 350 member physicians of the Society, from residents to retirees, participate in the MMS Speakers Bureau. The physicians represent a range of medical specialties, including family medicine, geriatrics, occupational medicine, obstetrics, sports medicine, cardiology, and neurology.

The MMS offers speakers to business and community groups, educational institutions, and other organizations interested in learning about the role of physicians and medicine, patient care and illness, medical technology, and current trends and issues in local, national, and international health care.

Speakers are available on such individual topics as drug and alcohol abuse, weight loss and nutrition, obesity, Alzheimer's disease, end-of-life care, pulmonary disease, elderly drivers, sports medicine and safety, infectious diseases, sleeping and eating disorders, geriatrics, mental health, depression, weight loss, socially transmitted diseases, public health issues and more.

To obtain a speaker, please complete and submit the form below.

Guidelines for Requesting a Speaker

Lead Time:
Please provide ample lead-time for us to process your request and secure a suitable speaker. (Try to allow at least six weeks prior to the desired speaking date.)

Audience Size and Type:
Speakers like to know the nature of the audience they will be addressing. Having this information in advance of the engagement helps them prepare appropriate remarks to ensure a successful event. Be sure to tell us about your audience (e.g., physicians, nurses, business people, etc.), and how many you expect to attend.

Topics:
Please tell us what topic you would like the speaker to address. The more specific you can be, the better. If you are not sure what topic may be suitable for your group, we’d be happy to assist you in choosing one.

Fees & Expenses:
The MMS speaker’s bureau is a free service to our community. Fees or honorariums are not required to secure a speaker. (On occasion, a speaker may seek reimbursement for travel expenses.)

Confirmation:
The MMS will confirm speaking engagements with the requesting organization and with the speaker. Should a speaker be unable to fulfill an engagement at the last minute due to medical or personal emergencies, the MMS will make every effort to promptly inform the group and secure a substitute speaker.>

(The MMS cannot guarantee the fulfillment of every request. There may be times when the request cannot be filled due to the location or time of the event, the travel distance, the nature of the request, etc.)

PLEASE NOTE: The thoughts and opinions expressed by the speakers are not necessarily those of the Massachusetts Medical Society.
