The Massachusetts Medical Society's Legal Advisory Plan (LAP)
provides advisory and consultation services to MMS members regarding
Board of Registration in Medicine matters for a flat fee of $70 per year
(discounts for groups of five or more).
This plan has been designed to help you respond to the most common types
of proceedings before the Board of Registration in Medicine (BRM),
including patient complaints or BRM investigations prior to the
institution of formal proceedings by the Board.
A well-crafted response by a Plan attorney may be all that is needed
to resolve a situation. Your license is a valuable asset. Protect it
today with the Legal Advisory Plan, a member-only benefit.
Additional benefits that LAP members receive when they enroll in the
plan include:
- A free 30-minute consultation with LAP attorneys to discuss BRM
issues, whether or not the LAP member has received notice of a complaint
or BRM investigation
- A free quarterly newsletter, The Legal Advisor, featuring articles
on changing laws, BRM decisions and more
- Online CME component of The Legal Advisor newsletters developed from
past issues, such as Legal
Advisor: Identifying Drug Dependence and Preventing Abuse
- Additional
courses that meet the Board's requirements for Risk
Management
