The Massachusetts Medical Society's Legal Advisory Plan (LAP) provides advisory and consultation services to MMS members regarding specified Board of Registration in Medicine matters.
This member-only benefit is low-cost legal insurance designed to effectively respond to a notice of a patient complaint or BRM investigation. Written response to notification is the physician’s best opportunity to resolve the issue quickly and favorably. Hiring an attorney to draft a written response can be costly.
For $70 a year, the LAP will provide the specified legal services and assistance up to the point of formal proceedings. The Plan’s counsel,
Adler, Cohen, Harvey, Wakeman and Guekguezian, LLP, are experienced with working with the Board, are able to anticipate the board’s questions and concerns, and can assist the physician to avoid pitfalls and common mistakes. Your license is a valuable asset. Safeguard it and your career today with the Legal Advisory Plan.
Discounts are available for groups of 5 or more physicians.*
Additional features of the LAP include:
A free 30-minute consultation with LAP attorneys to discuss BRM issues, whether or not the LAP member has received notice of a complaint or BRM investigation
- A free quarterly newsletter, The Legal Advisor, featuring articles on changing laws, BRM decisions and more
