Essential Area 1: Purpose and Mission

Element 1.2

Demonstrate how the CME mission is congruent with and supported by the mission of the parent organization, if a parent organization exists.

If an accredited provider has a parent organization, it must demonstrate that the CME mission statement of the provider is congruent with and supported by the parent organization. This can be accomplished in one of two ways:

1) CME is mentioned in the parent organization's mission statement (there is no specific requirement on what must be said), and CME is supported by the parent organization through financial resources, facilities, and/or human resources; OR

2) The provider's CME mission statement is reviewed and approved by the governing body of the parent organization on a regular basis (every one to two years).
