Waltham – Dr. Anna Manatis
has been honored by her peers of the 
Barnstable District Medical Society as the district’s 2019 Community 
Clinician of the Year, an honor recognizing her contributions and 
professionalism as a physician.
Dr. Manatis, a physician
 currently with Brigham and Women’s Harbor Medical
 Associates.  Dr. Manatis had practiced on the Cape for over 20 years 
and recently practiced for six years at the Massachusetts General 
Hospital with the Bulfinch Medical Group. She has a long history of 
service to the Massachusetts Medical Society.  She served
 as district president of the Barnstable District Medical Society and 
previously served as both Trustee and Alternate Trustee to the Medical 
Society’s Board of Trustees.  She also served as past chairperson of the
 MMS Public Health Reference Committee.
Dr. Manatis was co-founder and president of
Cape
 Clean Air, a non-profit comprised of Cape-based professionals whose 
mission was to educate local citizens on the health effects of power 
plant pollution.
She
 received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her medical 
degree from New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Manatis later
 earned a master’s degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public 
Health. 
  
The
 Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the 
Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the 
organization’s 20 district societies who has
 made significant contributions to his or her patients and the 
community.
The Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) is the
 statewide professional association for physicians and medical students,
 supporting 25,000 members. We are dedicated to educating and advocating
 for the physicians of Massachusetts and
 patients locally and nationally. A leadership voice in health care, the
 MMS contributes physician and patient perspectives to influence 
health-related legislation at the state and federal levels, works in 
support of public health, provides expert advice on
 physician practice management, and addresses issues of physician
