Massachusetts Medical Society: Massachusetts Medical Society on Israel-Hamas war

Massachusetts Medical Society on Israel-Hamas war

As the president of the Massachusetts Medical Society, I am writing on behalf of all member-physicians who denounce violence in all forms, including unspeakable atrocities that lead to and occur during war.

The unjustified and abhorrent killing of innocent civilians must be invariably condemned on a worldwide level. We offer our support to those who have lost loved ones and to all who have suffered and will suffer severe acute and long-term physical and emotional injuries resulting from the terrorist attack in Israel, the war in Gaza and in deadly conflicts across the globe.

We urge the immediate use of all available legal, diplomatic, and humanitarian measures to release civilian prisoners and ensure the safety of all innocent civilians and those who provide health care and support the health care infrastructure during war.

The Massachusetts Medical Society recommends that those who wish to make donations toward humanitarian aid and health care efforts do so through trusted organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, the International Committee of the Red Cross, or the United Nations Children’s Fund.
