National Government Services Becomes New England's Part B Medicare Carrier

NGS logoOn October 25, 2013, National Government Services (NGS) became the new carrier for Medicare Part B for all of New England.

Getting Ready

In order to be paid, all physician offices must change their electronic data interchange. In order to do this, register on the NGS website.

If you contract with a billing company, check with your billing company to ensure that it has taken the steps to make your office compliant with the new system.

If you do your own billing, and you used the free NHIC software, you must convert to the NGS free software program. Click here for more information about the new software program.

  • A free web application developed and maintained by NGS  to provide self-service functions.
  • Information includes beneficiary eligibility information, claims status queries, initiation of reopening/redetermination requests, provider/supplier demographic information, and financial data queries.
