Brendan Abel, Esq.
Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Massachusetts Medical Society

Brendan Abel is the State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Assistant Council in the Government Relations department at the Mass. Medical Society. Prior to coming to MMS, he worked in the legal department at Partners Healthcare and was the heath policy researcher at the New England Journal of Medicine. He received his JD from Suffolk University, and a completed a fellowship in Medical Ethics at the Division of Medical Ethics at Harvard Medical School. Brendan has been published in a number of academic publications including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Hasting Center Report.


Thomas Bryant 
Director of Business Development, Physicians Insurance Agency of Massachusetts (PIAM) 

Thomas J. Bryant is a risk/insurance professional who specializes in identifying known and emerging insurance risk for physicians, practices, and hospitals and developing strategies for managing those risks. 

Tom is Director, Business Development at the MASS MEDICAL SOCIETY’S Insurance Agency (PIAM.)  His background includes 12 years offshore industry -Pacific and Arctic waters,  12 years Public Safety roles in provincial and federal justice system -Canada, and 12 years commercial insurance management–with a focus on Healthcare Risks and Medical Professional Liability in New England.  He specializes in Medical and Facility Malpractice issues, and most lines of Physician, Practice & Hospital Property/ Casualty Insurance. 

Tom received his Bachelor of Science at the University of Great Falls (MT.)  He holds an active Property & Casualty Producer License, and he completed an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation  in 2008. Kerry Ann Hayon
Director, Physician Practice Resource Center, Massachusetts Medical Society

Kerry Ann Hayon, Manager, Physician Practice Resource Center (PPRC) at the Massachusetts Medical Society brings more than 10 years of consulting, hospital administration and physician practice management experience to the PPRC.  Kerry Ann is a Six-Sigma process improvement expert with extensive experience working with physicians and physician practices in the area of strategy, operations, program development and revenue cycle enhancement.  She focuses on providing practical solutions for physician practices in light of the current healthcare environment.  Kerry Ann holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is an NCQA Certified Patient Centered Medical Home Content Expert.


Helen Farrell, MD

Helen M. Farrell, M.D. is an enthusiastic and experienced medical professional; board certified Psychiatrist & Forensic Psychiatrist; writer; and speaker. She is a Harvard Medical School Instructor in psychiatry and a staff psychiatrist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

She frequently contributes expert psychiatric commentary to the media and press. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, Psychology Today, NPR’s CommonHealth Blog, Psychiatric Times, KevinMD.com, and the french journal, 20 Minutes.  Dr. Farrell cares deeply about disseminating credible expert commentary on mental health, forensics and wellness. 

Dr. Farrell gained recognition for her original JAMA article, “A House Built Out of Madness” which sought to overcome stereotypes of mental illness.  Dr. Farrell’s 2015 TEDx Talk, “Creating Hope for Mental Health” has been viewed across the globe and is transforming perceptions of mental illness from stigma into acceptance. Dr. Farrell is an award-winning educator at Harvard Medical School and a spirited clinician, writer, and international speaker.

Dr. Farrell is a medical graduate of Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. There she was initially moved by the lyrical and sensitive prose of literary geniuses whose writings gave mental illness an acceptable voice.


Jennifer Joe, MD

Jennifer Joe, MD, is a Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) nephrology graduate turned physician social entrepreneur CEO and Founder of Medstro.com and Editor-in-Chief and Founder of MedTechBoston.com.

Medstro is a social network for physicians and medical students with the mission to create a truly collaborative community. As Founder and CEO, Dr. Joe has overall responsibility for managing a team of seven, guiding product development, and building and maintaining relationships. Julien L. Pham, MD, MPH 
Chief Medical Officer and Founder, RubiconMD 

Julien is the MD in RubiconMD.  A board-certified internal medicine doctor and nephrologist, he is passionate about bringing specialist knowledge to patient care the way it should be:  Simple and convenient.  Prior to joining RubiconMD, he was on faculty at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  A techie at heart, Julien previously founded RHINNO, an award-winning digital health innovation lab.  He earned his MD from University of Washington and his MPH at Harvard.


Zoe Tseng, MD
General Internist, Brigham and Women's Primary Care Newton Corner 

Zoe Tseng, MD is a general internist at Brigham and Women’s Primary Care in Newton Corner, Massachusetts.  She recently graduated from general internal medicine residency at Brown University.  She served on the American College of Physician’s Council of Resident and Fellow Members from 2012-2014 and was a member of the Rhode Island ACP Governor’s Council.  She has a strong interest in physician advocacy and helped to implement a resident-run curriculum on physician advocacy for the GIM residency at Brown.  She continues to help direct and teach this curriculum.
