Waltham – March 29 – Sudbury resident Ernesto Y. Jose, M.D. has been honored by his physician peers of the Middlesex West District Medical Society as its 2016 Community Clinician of the Year, an award recognizing his professionalism and contributions as a physician. He will receive the award at the district society’s annual meeting at the Marlborough Country Club on April 6.
Board certified in internal medicine with a specialty in cardiovascular disease, Dr. Jose was a member of the active staff of Marlborough Hospital for nearly 40 years until his retirement in 2011. He continues to provide patient care at several area nursing homes and has been certified by the American Medical Directors Association as a Certified Medical Director in Long-Term Care.
Dr. Jose received his medical degree from the Facultad de Medicina of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in Argentina. He completed his internship at Atlantic City Medical Center, his residency at Beth Israel Hospital in New York and the Boston VA Hospital, and his fellowship in cardiology at the Washington, D.C. VA Hospital.
During his tenure at Marlborough Hospital, he served as Chief of Medicine, Director of Electrocardiography, and a member of the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and a Charter Member of the American Society of Hypertension. In 2014, Dr. Jose was honored by Marlborough Hospital with its Chiron Smith Outstanding Physician Award for his dedicated service to patients and the community.
The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community. The Middlesex West District is comprised of nearly 600 physicians who work and live in 18 communities in the MetroWest area.
