Waltham – April 20 – Hingham resident David B. Rudolph, M.B. has been honored by his peers of the Norfolk South District Medical Society as the district’s 2016 Community Clinician of the Year.  

Dr. Rudolph spent 36 years in private practice in Weymouth, treating patients with ear, nose, and throat diseases and concentrating on head and neck cancers.  He was a member of the staffs of South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and Carney Hospital in Dorchester.  At South Shore Hospital, he served as President of the Medical Staff and a member of the Ethics Committee.  

Now retired from the active practice of medicine, Dr. Rudolph was employed by South Shore Hospital as a medical staff liaison. He also teaches anatomy at Tufts Medical School and otolaryngology at Boston University School of Medicine.  

Since 2007, Dr. Rudolph has also brought his medical knowledge and expertise to the Dominican Republic, where he has worked in the barrios supervising care in the clinics and improving the delivery of health care to the citizens.  

Dr. Rudolph received his medical degree from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community. The Norfolk South District is comprised of nearly 500 physicians who live and work in South Shore communities.
