Waltham – April 22 – Milton resident James F. Dunphy, M.D. has been honored by his physician peers of the Norfolk District Medical Society as the district’s 2016 Community Clinician of the Year.
The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community. The Norfolk District is comprised of more than 3,000 physicians who live and work throughout Norfolk County.
Now retired from the practice of medicine, Dr. Dunphy was member of the staff of Milton Hospital for more than 30 years, serving as Chief of Radiology from 1981-1993 and Chief of Nuclear Medicine from 1989-2002. He was also president of the Medical Staff, Chairman of the Medical Executive Committee, and a member of a number of committees, including the Disaster Committee, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Committee, Oncology Committee, and Senior Staff Review Committee. After leaving Milton Hospital, he also worked part-time for the Boston VA Hospital system.
A military veteran with service in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1970, Dr. Dunphy is a graduate of Milton High School, Amherst College, and Tufts University School of Medicine.
