Increases the membership and active participation of young physicians in the MMS. Focusing on physicians aged 40 and under - as well as those within their first eight years of practice - this committee identifies issues and sponsors educational and social programs specific to young physicians as well as lowers barriers to their participation in Society activities and governance. This committee meets approximately 6 times a year on weeknights via teleconference from 6:30-7:30 p.m. or directly after an educational webinar, and 2 times a year on weeknights at MMS headquarters from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Young Physician Leadership Opportunities
Member Committees and Member Sections
Early career physician members can serve on up to 43 MMS committees or sections and provide guidance on MMS policymaking, programs, and activities.
Delegate to the MMS House of Delegates
The House of Delegates, which meets twice annually, is the policymaking body of the MMS and elects the MMS officers. Any member is eligible to serve as a delegate after one year of district membership.
American Medical Association
The MMS has two delegate seats to the American Medical Association Young Physician Section (AMA-YPS), appointed through the Committee on Young Physicians, and also encourages young physicians to apply for positions on the Massachusetts Physician Delegation to the AMA.
District Medical Societies
The MMS is comprised of 20 district medical societies. You can participate in your local district society and help coordinate and get involved in MMS activities on a local and regional level. Members have the choice to belong to a district based on where they live or practice.
MMS Regional Offices
Focusing on advocacy and outreach efforts to aid physicians in practicing medicine, the MMS Regional Offices - with office sites in Wilbraham, Lakeville, and Waltham - are valuable resources for MMS members to get involved at the district level.
