Thomas R. Frieden, MD, MPH, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, delivers the 125th annual Shattuck Lecture, sponsored by the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Frieden discussed such issues as controlling antibiotic resistant infections, HIV, TB, vaccine preventable diseases, heroin and opioid abuse, hypertension and tobacco use.
